View NotesHere's a stop in Germany on he Jed Luckless EuroTour 2020 at the Secondlife venue Feed A Smile which raises money for Live and Learn Kenya, an organization that provides meals and education for kids in Kenya. It's always a good time for a good cause at Feed A Smile and this show is no exception. Jed revs things up right from the start with an uncharacteristic "Maserati" opener in honor of the autobahn. The speedy instrumental is followed by the ethereal "Jackie" which is also uncharacteristic in the sense that it spawns one of the longer improv jams of the night, something the song is not known for. It's a funky back beat jam that dissolves into a nice tremolo before "Space Oddity" appears from the darkness. It's always a fun cover song and this is a good version. Another cover tune is up next, the McKean Sinkler song "On And On We Go," which seems more timely every time it's played. Jed slows things down for a minute with the fingerpicked "The Wane," which is followed by a Fred Willard dedication of "Gimme Some Money," a song from the movie Spinal Tap. Jed's multi-section composition "Second Hand Smile" closes out the first frame. Second set opens with the Christine Lanfranco collaboration "Missing Us," which is often a good second set jam opener, and here it lives up to that reputation with a rocking 16+ minute jam featuring organ and theramin. It gives way to the poignant "Sunlight," followed by the always fun Phish tour inspired "Ass Gas or Grass." Another uncharacteristic jam comes next, emanating from the instrumental "The Caravan," which is part of Jed's Luna Suite. Here he extends it into a lofty prog-rock jam that gives way to a new original called "Undeserved." It's the live debut of the song, which is inspired by Bernie Sanders presidential run. Jed puts a great exclamation point on the set with a rocking "Loving Cup" closer. one last song in the encore position is another Fred Willard dedication featuring "When You're Next To Me," a song from the movie "A Mighty Wind." This is a fun daytime show at a friendly and familiar venue and it features some uncharacteristic jam vehicles, a few popular and obscure covers and the debut of a new Jed original. Enjoy!
