View NotesIt's show number two on the Jed Luckless EuroTour 2020 and the second back-to-back stop in France. This time it's at a place called Taniz, a pastoral outdoor venue in Second Life with a great concert stage and an amazingly excited crowd of Jed Heads and newcomers that sparkled with energy! Moondance was on the light rig providing a visual feast for the concertgoers. Jed opens the show with his "cowboy combo" of "One And" and "Ride With The Devil," always a fun story tune to listen to. He gets seriously quickly with "Alignments" his Dungeons & Dragons inspired epic, which spawns the first major improv jam of the night, a funky organ and wah wah fest that gives way to a nice tremolo segment before a smooth transition into the Mark Gutenplan song "Road Trip." It's a nice slow groove version of the song, and Jed gives a quick Jed Luckless Band 2020 update afterwards. The proggy mathemetical tune "Multiply" is up next, and it's fast becoming one of Jed's go to jam vehicles, this time out with a frenetic high energy improv that again uses a tremolo transition to find it's way into "Meredith." There's alot of Zeppelin in the air tonight, and Jed gives the instrumental a real Jimmy Page treatment on the acoustic and dedicates the song to his friend Beachy Piers and her mother Meredith for whom the song was penned. The set closes with the bouncy "Where The Mountains Meet The Sea" and its tales of Jed's journeys around the world. The lenghty second set starts off with a story about Jed and Moonie's Curveball adventures before launching into "Doesn't" another favorite of Jed's to jam out on. It produces the longest jam of the night, and includes a Steely Dan tease and some nice backwards guitar work from Jed. When the smoke clears, the gentle and reflective fingerpicker "Own" emerges as a perfect breather after the jam. The energy cirucit is brimming and Jed keeps it going with one of his Mom's favorite tunes, another one by Mark Gutenplan called "Remember This Night," which Jed takes out for one last improv jam featuring an "Immigrant Song" tease. It moves into "Moved To The Country," which continues Jed's tease-fest with a nod to Genesis. The first real cover tune of the night comes next with a nice soulful version of the Allman Brothers' "Sweet Melissa." But Jed's back to the originals for the last song of the set, the epic tale of "The Kid That Tried To Fly," always a high energy closer. The encore channels the Led Zeppelin energy in the air into a rocking version of "Over The Hills and Far Away." This is a high energy show from Jed's EuroTour 2020 featuring a bevy of great Jed originals, a couple great Gutenplan tunes, three or four solid improv jams, a bit of Allmans and a whole lotta Zep vibes throughout. Enjoy!
