Here's a very special show from the Jed Luckless archives, featuring a two set tribute to Dave Nolan, a friend, supporter and beloved personality in the scene who passed away at too young an age. Jed opens the show without alot of talk, bursting right into an improv intro jam typical of the time period (when Jed was using a rhythm box during his "warm up" jams before sliding into the opener). The real opener is "The Music Never Stopped," which perfectly kicks off the thematic tribute. First set features a lengthy "Sugaree," nice mid-set renditions of "Mr. Charlie" and "Box Of Rain" and a powerful climax with a "Not Fade Away" > "Truckin" combo. Second set starts out with a tribute to Dave Nolan as Jed tells us a little about the man and his impact on the scene, followed with a poignant version of "Standing On The Moon." The centerpiece of the set is the "Samson And Delilah" paired with Drums & Space and the melancholy "Black Muddy River." Jed keeps it going and wraps up the show with "Foolish Heart" and a nice long jammy "Bird Song" send off. This is one of those shows with a special energy, and as always lots of grate tunes and jams from Jammin Jed. Enjoy! Note: The encore at this show was a "Bertha" > "Ripple" combination that was unfortunately not recorded. Included here instead is an epic "Ripple" encore from June 2, 2010 at the same venue and a "Bertha" set closer from November 23, 2009 at The Merry Prankster.
