Lineage:
Neumann TLM-170 (card, split 30" in balcony)->Sound Devices 722(@24/96). FLAC File processing in SoundForge Audio Studio 10.0b (volume normalization; L/R channel time alignment, removing 20 samples from the right channel at the beginning of the recording; resample to 44.1 with iZotope 64-Bit SRC set higher than "Highest Quality" setting w/anti-alias filter; 24->16 bit dither using iZotope MBIT+ with Ultra noise shaping, High dither settings); Tracked in CDWav.
Taper Notes:
View NotesThis was an early, acoustic set, which was open to a very limited number people who purchased VIP tickets which benefitted HeadCount. Click for more information on Headcount or to register to vote No taping was allowed at this show, but I did anyway and just recently got permission from Jon Topper, moe.'s manager to post this recording. You get the benefit of an April 2010 mastering in SoundForge 10, which has improved Izotope resampling and MBit+ Dithering over SoundForge 9 which I was using at the time, as well as the knoweldge which I didn't have almost 2 years ago that when you run split mics you might need to time align the channels (in this case it was extremely minor -- 20 samples or 1/4,800th of a second), but I did it just because I care and hope you appreciate. Happy Birthday to Eric Vandercar who got to do the "...but To fly?" part of Moth. In my opinion, this recording sounds spectacular -- the balcony split resulted in great stereo separation, very crisp highs, minimal crowd noise, and is extremely dynamic -- it could be the best moe. recording I've ever made (and I've been taping them since 1995). There is a higher quality 24 bit version of this recording available at http://www.archive.org/details/moe2008-06-16.tlm170.early.balcony.split.flac24 The electric sets of this show are available from the same recording set up at http://www.archive.org/details/moe2008-06-16.tlm170.balcony.split.flac16 Check out my photos from this show:

moe.
