View NotesHere's an unscheduled Jed show from July 2015, during his summer break, at The Living Room in Secondlife, an opportunity for Jed to hit the stage for the first time in about a month and only one of four shoes in four months. So Jed is eager to rock, and sure enough he extends the evening as long as he possibly can. Jed opens the show with a high energy version of his original "Back Again" usually a nice way to ease into the show but here Jed pushes it right into the rock zone immediately. He keeps up the energy with "Alignments" off his 'Roll Over' album, and then shifts gears to the first cover tune of the night, a nice rendition of String Cheese Incident's "Hotel Window." The first jam of the night comes next, emerging out of the pop rocker "Still in Luv With U," and it segues into a somewhat dodgy version of "Time and Tide." But the debut of a new original "Used To Feel Good" makes up for it. A dedication to Particle Tom comes next, "Dear Mr. Fantasy" in honor of his light show. A neurologically challenged "Suzy Greenberg" wraps up the set. The show was supposed to be one set followed by someone named "Bandit" but I guess Smokey got him, because he never showed and we were treated to "the longest encore I ever played" as Jed puts it. It starts out with a Grateful Dead trifecta, featuring the road tune "Truckin'" with a sweet spacey jam that feeds into a bouncy "Bertha" with a rockin solo. The GD trio is completed with Jed's take on the beautiful Jerry Garcia song "Standing on The Moon." The original instrumental "Doigter" is next and it is "sans" French lyrics this time out. The second Phish cover of the night swims by for a sip of "Bathtub Gin" and one of the best jams of the night, which spills into Jed's calypso closer "By and Bye." When the all is said and done the encore clocks in at nearly a full hour. On top of the extra long show, Jed also cranked out a lengthy soundcheck before the concert. It included a nice jam, the Grateful Dead song "Liberty," the Phish songs "Character Zero" (partial) and "Taste," and Jed's original "Mr. Beaman." It's another 35 minutes of music and is included here in the recording. This is fun show with a special summertime vibe, alot of unexpected material, several cool jams and a tasty soundcheck to boot. Enjoy!
