View NotesThis is an interesting show from the Jed vaults, from June 29, 2013 at a now-defunct Secondlife venue called "Blue Casbah." It was the one and only time Jed played there and it was for a weekend long "Woodstock Festival" that featured acts covering a variety of performers that were at Woodstock. The SL venue was in France making it an early morning show in the USA, and possibly this show was the original seed for the thought of doing a Europe Tour on other time zones (which Jed did for the first time officially in 2016). It was a big field, with a small crowd, but Jed delivers a nice homage to Dylan and the Dead with a mix of cover songs from each. The show starts off energetically with "Sugar Magnolia," as Jed paints a picture with the Dead's lyrics and music, keeping it peppy for the second slot with an up-tempo version of "Friend Of The Devil." The first of six Bob Dylan tunes pops up next, the soulful "Hard Rain's Gonna Fall" with a scorching guitar solo from Jed and a dedication to Frank Battitude. Jed keeps the Dylan thread going with "All Aong The Watchtower" stepping to the plate in the clean up position and hitting a home run. The vintage rocker "Viola Lee Blues" is next, and for a non-jammy show, this is about as jammy as it gets, with Jed opening up on gutiar. The set closer is a soong played by The Grateful Dead at Woodstock, "Mama Tried," which features a hot solo from Jed. Second set opens strongly with "Uncle John's Band" featuring one of the other more exciting "jams" of the show. It's back to Bob Dylan after that with a nice version of "Masterpiece" and the always fun "Tangled Up In Blue." Jed keeps the Dylan theme goin for one more, with the a dedication of the beautiful "She Belongs To Me." Jed goes for another GD Woodstock cover with the ambitious "St. Stephen," which has a nice middle groove to it. Jed always loves shining a good "Lovelight" on folks and he wraps up the show with a rocking one here, complete with a woodstock "rap." A Dylan encore with "The Mighty Quinn" puts a capper on the concert. This is a really fun and well played "Dylan & The Dead" show featuring a fantastic mix of material from both. It's not the jammiest of Jed's show, but it has a great vibe it's a perfect wake and bake listen for a Deadhead or Dylan fan. Enjoy!
