View NotesJammin Jed's Wild West Halloween is the 5th Annual Jedtainment Halloween event and took place on October 28, 2013 at Darkstar in Secondlife. It was a western theme and the concert took place at a makeshift western town called "Cumberland City," built especially for this event. As always, Jed's Halloween event features two sets of live music with a theme. This year, Jed wove the Halloween ghost story through the entire show, using the setlist and narration to tell "The Untold Story of Delilah Jones," a story of love and loss in the wild west. The first act focuses on the growth of Cumberland City as prospectors and the railroad come to town. Our heroine Delilah falls in love and starts a family, but the war destroys all that and leaves her alone and desperate. The first set is heavy on the Grateful Dead, featuring "Cumberland Blues" of course, Delilah's origin song, "Brown Eyed Women," and the railroad represented by "Casey Jones." A few original songs and the Phish song "Horse" round out the set. Act II follows our heroine as she returns to the city, making a living however she can, and in the process hooking up with a criminal named Dupree. Their fiery affair leads them headlong into danger and builds to a powerful climax. Jed uses some interesting covers in the second set to tell the story, including Steve Miller's "Take The Money And Run," Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead Or Alive" and Led Zeppelin's "Gallows Pole." There's also plenty more Grateful Dead, Phish and originals in the set, including the encore, Jed's obligatory "THe Pumpkin Song." Also included with this recording is the show's soundcheck which features a nice jam, along with a test run of Phish's "My Sweet One," paired with a Lou Reed "Walk On The Wild Side" tease. Yet another fantastically fun Halloween with Jed and the gang, full of great tunes and Halloween storytelling....enjoy!
