Notes: this is one of two matrix shows recorded by myself and a friend in an attempt to start a Instant Live clone. We since decided to abandon the business after we finished school, and decided to turn over what recordings we had over to the greater good. the band arrived late for the gig, and i believe we were forced to set levels and whatnot on the fly, so dont bitch if you think it sounds like ass. also, the track cutting is "creative" at best.

* - Aka "George Bush is a Lying Murderer" ***Original Notes*** Notes: this is one of two matrix shows recorded by myself and a friend in an attempt to start a Instant Live clone. ***End Orig Notes*** I apparently x-fered these both before, with the intent of uploading them (2003-10-30, Antones, Austin, TX (and it appears at least one of them made it to StG, because its on the archive - http://www.archive.org/details/jfjo2003-10-31.shnf)). I reripped the same discs I ripped previously, except this time I have more source info & log files galore. The files are also encoded to flac(lvl8) opposed to shn; I guess that would make these an upgrade. I am torrenting them both together (to TTD) because I can. :-P If you originally paid money for these, I would like to thank you for helping 2 crazy kids dream. Sure it was a miserable failure, but, you own a piece of history. My Memories: Jake's Nightclub is a small venue built inside a larger sportsbar. The night we were there (Halloween) was the opening show for the Nightclub, so there was a pretty big turnout. I (personally) believe that most of the crowd wasnt really prepared for what they got with the fred, which is why the recording sounds almost audience sterile at times. The venue's soundboard was above and behind the bar, and our Aud mike setup for this wasn't exactly ideal either (over/near the bar). I also remember this being a show were the band had a case of Shiner on stage (which probably caused the band/audience interaction). Enjoy! Archive.org Review: Reviewer: pjustus - 5 out of 5 stars - October 28, 2005 Subject: Magic Contrary to the notes left by the taper, this show sounds excellent. I may be biased -- I was there -- but the playing is magical; it's a real split between their mellower music and the more angular stuff. Sound-wise, this show is beautiful -- when the mix is balanced! There are a few moments where it's off-kilter, but they are brief. When the mix is centered, the instrumental detail is incredible. The bass, RHODES, and especially the drums sound amazing; Jason's drums have never sounded so good. I'm not sure why the indices are labeled "creative at best"; there are no segues and it all seems fine to me. This show contains my favorite versions of "Time is Now," "Three Splattered Eggs," and "Lovejoy." There is a a rarely played Pat Metheny tune; not only that, but the fabled "Johnny B. Goode" is there!
