View NotesThis is a re-cutting of Chris Ladner's original seed 6937. I have converted to FLAC, normalized, and fixed trackings. The source is not pristine, but it is more than acceptable until a new mastering comes along. Known issues: Dropout in Tennessee Jed at 1:29 spliced from Mike Lai's audience source There is a very brief jam on Playing in the Band right after Crazy Fingers. It's less than a minute so I didn't bother tracking it separately. Original seeds to Chris from Charlie Miller. Seeded by Peter Braverman 11/1/19

SBD + AUD Matrix Mix (50%-SBD/50%-AUD)
Taper Notes:
View Notes------------------------------------------------------------ Source Info Source 1: SBD: DAT > CDR > WAV > SHN Source 2: FOB: B&K 4011 (ORTF 6'4 mic Stand) > Neumann p48 phantom supply > Sony TCD-D10 pro II (48k) ------------------------------------------------------------ Tech Notes SHNs were decoded to wave and SF 6.0 was used to reassemble the tracks back to 1 long wave. CEP2.0 was used to align & synch both of the sources. CEP2.0 used to adjust the volume for the SBD & AUD. This is a 50% SBD, 50% AUD mix. - Mixed by [email protected] - Shn conversion done 14-MAR-2004 - FLAC conversion done 08-AUG-2005 - Artwork by [email protected] 300dpi - For best results print at the highest resolution onto glossy photo paper. Design for use with a clear slim double jewel case. Remix and FLAC conversion done 10-AUG-2005 ------------------------------------------------------------ Notes The SBD source was missing between song cheers on several songs in the first set. No music was missing. In a few spots a patch with the AUD source was used to maintain a smooth flowing sound. D1T04 Dropout in SBD patched with AUD. This is smooth and most likely undetectible. D1T05 Small tick/pop right at the track mark (not a track ID problem) on the AUD was removed. The SBD was trimmed to match. This is smooth and most likely undetectible. D1T06 Interference from a walkie-talkie can be heard, which is very strange. Disc 2 and 3 can be seamlessly reassembled. ---------------------------------------------------------

View NotesOldNeumanntapr Notes: This was my 'Last Time' recording the Dead at Cal Expo. It was a really long drive from San Luis Obispo County, but I really enjoyed that venue. For these shows I elected to patch my Sony WM-D6C into my friend John's Nakamichi CM300x3 rig, which I ended up buying from him later that year when he decided to purchase a set of Audio Technica AT-853a stealth microphones. This was the show where I met Bear Owsley. He came into the tapers section and borrowed a cable from my friend John, and John turned to me and said, "Do you know who this IS? This is Bear!" I said hi to him and he gave me a dirty look when I asked if he had any 'samples'! I remember that he was really short, and that he had a little leather case of some of the Grateful Dead-related jewelry that he had made and was selling. For some reason I could not find my ticket stub to the previous night's show, June 9, but I had two stubs from this show, June 10.

This was repaired by copying left channel (effectively becoming mono) during those moments. - Both channels cut out for about 20 seconds during end of NFA chant. This silence has been edited out. - Waves L3 Ultramaximizer (minimal limiting, dithering, noise shaping). Additional notes: - Multiple recorders were chained off this recording setup. This particular master cassette is just one of them. - Cassette transfer made 2016-10-31. Mastering done 2021-04-01. - CP-702 are the omni capsules in the Nakamichi 700 mic system.

If you play this DTS-Audio-CD and hear static it is b/c you didn't really read the text file, did you? --------------------------------------------------------- More On DTS Today's audio standards are moving towards multi-channel sound, like DTS and Dolby Digital. While the Audio-CD standard (Red Book) hasn't changed to accommodate these new sound formats, it is still possible to go around the specification and to put a 5.1 surround recording on a regular Audio-CD. To play a DTS-Audio-CD you must connect your DVD/CD player via a digital cable (optical or coaxial) to your DTS Dolby-Digital receiver. It is not 100% sure that your receiver will recognize a DTS-Audio CD, so the first time you're trying to playback a DTS-Audio-CD you must do a test to determine if it can. Begin with the volume very low, start the disc and raise the volume gradually. NEVER listen to a DTS-Audio-CD through the analog audio outputs of your CD/DVD player. Burning Instructions Burn them the absolute same way as you would burn any normal Audio-CD from FLAC files. ---------------------------------------------------------

Taper Notes:
View NotesTech Notes SHNs were decoded to wave and SF 6.0 was used to reassemble the tracks back to 1 long wave. CEP2.0 was used to align & synch the SBD & the AUD sources. CEP2.0 used to adjust the volume for the SBD, FOB, CTR and LFE channels. Surcode CD Pro DTS was used to encode to DTS. -3db was NOT applied to the rear channels. Both of the sources for the front and rear channels were left at their original levels. - Mixed by [email protected] - Shn conversion done 14-MAR-2004 - Artwork by [email protected] 300dpi - For best results print at the highest resolution onto glossy photo paper. Design for use with a clear slim double jewel case. --------------------------------------------------------- DTS-Audio-CD Info Front Left Channel SBD Right Channel SBD Center Mixed to mono -3db SBD Surround Left channel B&K 4011 Right channel B&K 4011 Sub/LFE Mixed to mono -3db SBD --------------------------------------------------------- Notes D1t06 Interference from a walkie-talkie can be heard, which is very strange. The SBD source was missing between song cheers on several songs in the first set. No music was missing. In a few spots a patch with the AUD source was used to maintain a smooth flowing sound. Disc 2 and 3 can be seamlessly reassembled.
