View NotesNotes: Nothing to note for flaws other than cass flips that I can't hear. A very "juicy" show. Sloppy at times, but powerful as all hell. One of my personal favorites, a "nick's picks" for sure. I love the way Phil comes in BIG on "The Race is on".

View NotesNotes: - upgrade to shnid 138649 - thanks to Tim for providing the DAT source - thanks to Charlie for the transfer & coordinating this. - thanks to Mike French & Tom Darian for the patch source. - live FM broadcast on KPFK radio - the patch repaired heavy static that took out 22 seconds in Truckin' - a minor, one second burst, happens again at @ the 4:21 (Truckin') that was left alone.

Taper Notes:
View NotesNotes: - DAT master courtesy of Ted Mattes. - Thanks to Charlie for directing traffic. - live FM broadcast on KPFK radio - minor hand claps were tidy'd up - Derby Day, make that The Phil is On day. - May 5 being a traditional gambling day in the USofA, the safe bet was on a Garcia ballad after space. GDTRFB, was the long shot, & it pays dividends! - Give this show its due & proper by playing it loud.

Taper Notes:
View Notes- Rich was one blanket in front of Rick. Rick's mics were approximately 9" higher. - some minor hand claps & a woohoo or two were tidy'd up - set II's dc offset was removed, each channel separately. - Derby Day, make that The Phil is On. - May 5 being a traditional gambling day in the USofA, the safe bet was on a Garcia ballad after space. GDTRFB, was the long shot, & it pays off! - It was hot. Hot enough to melt Katzeff's mics?? Hot enough for Weir to forget who was President?? All things considered, it was hot. It was no where near as hot as it was the fallowing week we spent in TJ. The lost week. - these shows were broadcast live on KPFK-FM - this show doesn't get its due & proper.

This is an FM broadcast, recorded live in the concert venue; KPFK public radio broadcast; The lineage guessing, in part; The FM receiver was a portable “Walkman”-type portable FM rec’vr; patched to my spare deck: Sony WM-D6C; transfer to digital was without any Dolby N.R., regardless of whether or not it was on the master; That transfer was via my Sony TC-D5M -> Tascam DR70D at a 24.96 sampling

View NotesNotes: Part of the Original Master Rescue Project. Cassette Master off a previously unreleased DAT. Rare enough recording, none on etree and perhaps 5 on Archive.org, none from this provenance / set of Mics. Thank you, Richard Berner! Was a hot day out, 105°. Broadcast on KPFK. Attended by Bear, Tim Leary & Terence McKenna, and perhaps other... attendees, if you believe the Archive notes. Phil is especially prominent in this pure FOB audience mix. Some great solos (Loose Lucy) and, The Race Is On, as well as some outdoor clarity. Very Nice Playing/Uncle John's jams.
