Taper Notes:
View NotesThis is the only source in circulation with a DAE-free lineage at the time of seeding. The sound quality is outstanding. There are some fluctuations in levels in the right channel during "Me and My Uncle" and "Big River" which sound like a poor connection on one of the drums/high hat. stereo 24/96 DVD-Audio rendering was also generated with Discwelder Chrome II. seeded by the green mtn bros @ candyman FTP and planetflac, September 2006.

Bertha Remaster of the PreFM Source (shn id 13948)
Taper Notes:
View NotesDigitally Remastered by [email protected]. Completed 3/3/2006. The original source has a large amount of audio level compression applied. I searched for a source without compression but was unable to find one. I checked 5 different sources, including one on DAT that was obtained 14 years ago and it had the same compression signature. This means the audio level compression was applied a long time ago and all subsequent copies have been derived from that source. The audio level compression was corrected to the extent possible. There is an irritating 6khz noise that exists throughout the original source. This was removed on the Bertha Remaster making for a much more enjoyable listening experience. The complete PreFM was used for the Bertha Remaster, which means the same defects, that exist in Me and My Uncle and Big Rivevr, remain. Enjoy! jay

Taper Notes:
View NotesBHP Note: not your normal 5.1 Surround - trying something different per request (actually did this back in 2014 for the DTS). Instead of using a sbd up front and audience in back (there was no circulating audience of this show) ... this audio uses 3 different soundboards that had just enough difference to put you in a sweet spot unlike a normal soundboard. Both Jay's Bertha and Charlie Millers pre-FM sbd can stand by themselves as excellent listening experiences, but never hurts to play around sometimes and see what happens with the sound. Unfortunately both reels turned out to have the same contents, give or take. Although there isn't much of the show here, I believe that this is the best quality available for these tracks, no 24 bit versions have previously been circulated. NB: Passenger and Sugaree are in reverse order to how they were actually performed but this is the way reel was put together. Thanks to John for providing the reels and John-Jay Hance, who baked the reels and transferred them. edited by SIRMick October 2009
