Mono Soundboard; lineage from shnid 293 listed as SBD> MR> PCM> DAT, from Betty Board; DAT> CD> EAC> SHN; This is a flac encoded & tagged version of reworked shnid 33817

View NotesDroncit notes for this version: Reworked the mono source to simulate stereo using various combinations of filters and rebalanced by adding certain frequencies into either the left or right channel to try to give it a cleaner sound. Also used a spectral filter for greater presence. Reworking the profile changed the perceived loudness. This version sounds louder at the same settings for normalization. It's not perfect, but I think it has more presence and it's easier to hear the individual instruments." After normalization, I also did the following: One tenth of a second of silence during the transition from Scarlet Begonias to Fire on the Mountain was removed; there is still some visible evidence of the problem, but I don't hear it while listening. I also recut the file without regard to original timings, so it's probably a different track delineation now. I didn't hear any other spots like that. I eliminated the dead spots in the dropout during Black Peter. It's still very clear that there's a problem, but it's a little less jarring. The opening 10 seconds of both Me & My Uncle and FOTD were very low, so I raised levels in M&MU about 5-6 dB to bring it up to where it should have been. I don't think it's noticeable now. There were also several instances of a fraction of a second of blank space noticeable after raising the gain. I deleted these. and cut so the 3...4 countdown is audible. An edit is also noticeable before the song starts (probably just a tape start/stop). The opening of FOTD was raised approx. 3dB. Added 1dB to the 12 seconds before the opening of Cassidy as it seemed a little low. Added 2dB to the 15 seconds prior to Passenger because of the interesting guitar ditty, which sounds vaguely familiar. Vocals remain thin-sounding in some spots (especially the second set), possibly due to the missing channel. All work in this version done with Diamond Cut 8.0 Forensics. Thanks to BCE.

View NotesThe well known SBD source has one major flaw. It is not stereo. The same channel is spread over both channels using a splitter technique. The channel that should contain Keith, half of Jerry, Billy, and possibly some of Phil, is missing; Keith is minimally audible. This is the only SBD source available. The Wagner recording is very nice quality. Once aligned with the SBD the whole sound spectrum can be heard. Bobby is no longer drowning out the others and Jerry's sound is much richer and fuller. The biggest difference is that Keith can be heard. The SBD and the Wagner recording have many cuts primarily between songs. I used the FOB to fill in most of these gaps where possible. I went into this project with the intension of constructing a 2-source Matrix between the SBD and Wagner sources. I found the cuts and fades between tracks very annoying so I added the FOB to fill in between the cuts only. I did not align the FOB with the other two sources through the songs because I felt it did not add to the overall quality of the Matrix. I also fixed drop outs, static, level fluctuations and clicks throughout. The results are a big improvement for this show. This is the most complete version of this concert since all 3 recordings have different cuts and it is now seamless with the exception of the break between sets. Everybody in the band can be heard clearly and evenly.
