There is one small digital glitch in this recording that I could not clean up at approx 4 min 42 sec into the song 6:15 Taper Notes: Contiuning my deep dive into my classic (and now ancient) God Street Wine recordings, for BARN240 we roll onto the 3rd night of the GSW Thanksgiving 1994 run which I attended. After their BIG TIME Friday night show at the Capitol Theater the night before, this is their "fun" follow-up show at the small club in the same town (Port Chester). Same band, but a completely different vibe. The more relaxed vibe at this show really comes through in the recording. (As does the spectacular sound quality that comes through in this recording at a much more intimate venue in comparison to the night before: The mix is spectacular. The vocals, drums, organ, and bass are all crystal clear. The guitars sound clean and crisp.) A few notes about the performance: Wendy - great way to open a show! Gretchen has an extra long extended guitar solo outro. Upside Down and Inside Out - they ABSOLUTELY NAIL this one. The harmonies are SPOT ON and Tomo's drums are MONSTEROUS. You can hear that the band is still feeling their way around the new (at the time) Don't Tell God -- which they played on all 3 nights of this run. Hellfire has an atypical jam which sounds like a jam on another song that I cannot identify. Set 2 opens with a brand new (at the time) Bevo-penned and sung ditty, "Revealing Nothing" and they move right along into a truly great Into The Sea as the appetizer into "Hungry Again". This take on "Molly" has a nice slow build. The sublime trio of "Hammer and Spike" -> "Epiphany" -> "Imogene" are the beating heart of this show and worth the price of admission. Listen to "Imogene" for another (unidentified as yet by me) song during a smoking jam section. "Wake Up Now" closes the set in a deep and tragic fashion. This take is slightly slower than the one from 3 nights before in Asbury Park. The band wrap up their weekend a rare cover of the classic "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" followed by a tribute to their 2 nights in Port Chester, their rare original "Wonderful Westchester Women".
