View NotesHighlights: tracks 5 & 7 Players: Charles Atkins - keyboards and vocals The Blues Boys Larry Laseur - harmonica, backup vocals Harty Wiedemann - guitar Tom Henning - guitar with RC - drums This tape, like 12-26, appears to be the end of session. There may have been another tape with the first 2 hours, or not. I'm guessing this is RC on drums tonight; must have had a mic pointed back there cause you can actually hear him in the mix. And Harty came in late which I didn't realize till Charles mentioned it at the end of the tape. So this tape picks up at break time, with Charles noodling and the Boys talking in the back; track 1 ends with Charles playing a bit of Moving On. Tracks 2 & 3 is Save the Children - a Charles original. The first take (which I prefer) starts mid-solo; the second is more complete but has fluctuating levels. Overall the song seems to drag but then it is the first time the band played it. Another original - Precious Little Children - is next. On track 4, Charles stops to work something out and then nails it on the next take. Sweet, powerful song, a spiritual derivative as Charles might call it. Don't Get Around Much Anymore - the usual what key bit - Charles says G flat, Larry counters with F sharp, and it goes from there. Mostly Charles since the Boys are just learning this one but they do have fun. And the fun continues with Unchain My Heart. Last song is New Train - a continuation of a band song in development from the week before. Track 9 is best, for anyone wanting to get on board. Jan 2009 Dumb way #9 to start the new year. Falling asleep by a campfire in a crappy chair and then somehow pitching forward and catching myself in the coals with my hands. 2nd degree burns are not fun, but anyway, much better all ready. Enjoy this tape! SCopeland
