He passed away not long after making this recording. --Ira started taping back in the early 80's. He was extremely generous with other tapers and always had a bunch of people patched out of his rig. He was very happy with this recording. --A dear friend of his told me he left the Electric Factory with a smile on his face. --The mics he used are 'short shotguns" producing the sound in between a cardiod and a hypercardiod mic. --Thank you to Larry - FLDEADHEAD who supplied the source discs and did the initial editing! --Larry was a friend of Ira's for about 18 years and wanted to make sure Ira's last show made it "out there". --I highly recommend this source, I can't say that it's better or worse than the other 2 sources I've heard, it's different but definitely in your face. --Enjoy! A.F. --R.I.P. Ira vg NOTES (2025-11-27): --there is a 0.661 dropout at 14 seconds into d1t01 & also the levels get raised during this track to a nice level starting at 1:26 in & setttling at 1:32 in --https://ratdog.org/2005-04-30/photos --this venue opened in 1968 as "Electric Factory & Flea Market" in a converted tire warehouse on the northwest corner of 22nd & Arch Streets & soon became known simply as "Electric Factory" (1968-2018)...this location hosted concerts until 1970 & then the building was torn down in 1973 to be replaced by condominiums...in 1995, the venue reopened in a converted building from the General Electric Switchgear Plant on 7th & Willow Street...in September of 2018 it changed its name to "Franklin Music Hall" (2018-present [2025]) --https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franklin_Music_Hall
