View NotesHot off their awesome Phish Bowl appearance last month, Clueless Wallob is back for March Madness! This was supposed to be a three show run the last week of March, however keyboardist Mark Mattson was unable to join the shows, so the band cancelled the first two shows, and went on for the third show with a substitute coming in off the bench! The show opens nicely with "Back On The Train," and sit-in Chris Napolitano immediately shines on the keys, bringing the needed bounciness to this tune. Jed Luckless leads the band through "Sigma Oasis" next, and Kenny Kaufman and Pete Martine launch into "Sand" next, which produces a really nice jam section before resolving. The deep, bluesy "About To Run" follows, with Jed ripping up some guitar solos, and the first big improv jam of the night runs in next coming out of "Blaze On" with a segue into the poignant Anastasio tune "Lonely Trip." A fun, short "My Sweet One" closes out the first frame. Second set opens strong with "Set Your Soul Free" which opens up into a nice long jam clocking in at almost 13 minutes before a sweet transition to "Carini," which is a Clueless Wallob debut! "Ghost" is hot on its heels, and it produces another great jam, this one sliding nicely into "Waste." But the jams aren't done yet, as "Wolfman's Brother" takes shape and gives the audience a sweet departure from the form before a return to the song's signautre slow down ending. To counter the slow down, a super fast "Possum" darts into view to close the set, and the band adds a nice pallette cleansing "Evovle" as an encore. This is a really solid CW show, with the band sounding great. Chris Napolitano fills in nicely, and you can hear that the band is really psyched to be able to play at least the Saturday night show of the run. Definitely worth a spin for you Wallobs out there! Enjoy!
