View NotesIt's the 4th annual Jammin Jed Halloween bash, and if you thought the previous year's bashes were wild, you ain't seen nothing yet! The 2012 theme was Jammin Jed's Hollywood Halloween, featuring all things Hollywood related and silver screen inspired. But like any good Hollywood tale, this one had a twist. The show ended up being on the night of the worst natural disaster to hit the East Coast of the United States in a century!

With Hurricane Sandy bearing down on New York, firefighters knocking at his door to evacute the building, and the Hudson River threating to flood his studio, Jed somehow manages to rock the socks off an impressive turnout of Secondlife and Ustream fans.

Like all Jammin Jed Halloween events, this one plays up the theme, including a series of Hollywood trivia questions based on the setlist and some fun ghost stories. While the show seems a but rushed at points (you can hear Jed sensing the impending storm) it's understandable given the severity of the situation (in the video you can literally see the water rising over the boardwalk).

First set kicks off with a sweet rendition of Led Zeppelin's "Going To California," a first for Jed. He follows this up with some rockin' Grateful Dead classics, "Casey Jones" and "On the Road Again" in honor of train movies and Bob Hope movies, and a powerful "Samson and Delilah" for Cecil B. DeMille. Some Phish finds it way into the set, as Jed plays "Bittersweet Motel" in honor of Hitchcock. An extremely jammy sci fi "Space Oddity" and a fueled up, easy "I Know You Rider" close out the set.

Second set opens with a Blues Brothers homage but quickly gets serious with an intense "Darkstar" that jams it's way into a "Ghost" that tells the story of the Blossom Ballroom in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Jed's thank you speech features a Chris Guest tune from Mighty Wind, and a very strong and poignant "Ship of Fools" seems to cap the evening off perfectly. And in halloween tradition, Jed even manages to squeeze in the "Pumpkin Song" encore.
