Here's a rare live performance by Jed Luckless from August 2011 at Beanberry's in New Rochelle, NY, featuring two sets of music performed by Jed as part of Beanberry's "Saturday Night Live Music" series. It's a cover heavy show, without much jamming, but it's got a fun vibe and alot of frozen yogurt shout outs. The show starts off strongly with a bouncy version of Bob Dylan's "Quinn The Eskimo" followed immediately by an upbeat rendition of the Grateful Dead's "Friend Of The Devil." The covers keep coming with a fun version of Phish's "Yamar" featuring a nice guitar solo. Jed finally breaks out an original with "Catfish Friend" (though the lyrics are inspired by a Richard Brautigan poem) but then goes right back to the Dead and Phish with a brief "Sugar Magnolia" and a rocking "First Tube." A rare Led Zeppelin cover appears briefly as Jed delivers a crunchy solo on "Tangerine," followed by his original song "The Freeze" to close the set perfectly right before a frozen yogurt break. Second set continues the covers trend, kicking off with a hit-and-miss run at the Grateful Dead's "Brown Eyed Women." Jed quickly throws in an original next, his sci-fi tune "Ozone Blues." But it's one of only two originals this set, as Jed goes back to a run of Dead and Phish songs, featuring a Jerry Garcia tribute with "How Sweet It Is" and a powerful "Comes A Time," and a Phish pairing of a rarely played "Horn" with a favorite "My Sweet One." After a brief detour to the Beatles "Let It Be," it's back to business as usual with the Dead's "Deal." Jed brings back his GuRGLe era original "So Much For O.J." next, a satirically fun tune he doesn't play often. A request from the Beanberry's manager results in a "Turn On Your Lovelight" set closer, with the Rolling Stones "Shine A Light" claiming the encore slot and wrapping up the festivities. This is a rare, live solo performance in a small venue in NY with fantatsic sound and a fun vibe. It's full of great songs you can sing along to and was probably a cool show to be at, but if you weren't there at least you can listen to it here...enjoy!
