Matrix by Hunter Seamons using Final Cut Pro
Lineage:
FLAC > AIFF > Final Cut w/EQ > AIFF CD tracking via Audacity > FLAC16 via xACT w/meta-tagging
Taper Notes:
View NotesNotes: Jim Wise's SBD source via CDR had digital noise reduction. Levels are overall a little hotter and more brittle. Some light EQ helped throughout as needed. Set 1 + encore uses Barry Glassberg's recording for the matrix. Set 2 uses Frank Streeter's tape. Streeter's recording becomes muffled for the encore so Glassberg's tape was used instead. First 0:20 of Lost Sailor cut in the SBD. A splice edit repeated 0:10 of the recording during the Terrapin jam and was removed. 0:06 cut during Space. 0:05 cut at the beginning of Let It Grow in the AUD. 0:15 cut at the end of the Terrapin jam, now patched with Glassberg's tape. 1:11 cut during Drums (patched with SBD in the source).

Recorded By Mason Taylor on a Nakamichi 550 Cassette Deck, on chrome tapes, with Nakamichi microphones; Transferred on Mason's restored Nak550 properly
Taper Notes:
View Notes"Mason B. Taylor was a taper from Chicago that recorded concerts by many bands in the Chicagoland area and on Dead tours. He used a Nakamichi 550 with Nakamichi 300 mics with shotgun capsules for most of his earlier recordings. In later years he used Sony D-5 and Sony D-3 cassette recorders with Nakamichi 300 mics. Mason captured spectacular musical moments and loved to share them with his closest friends. In honor of Mason and all the love he put into his recordings we are now able to share these moments with those who can appreciate them most. As the shows get uploaded we would love for you to share your stories about the epic times the music evokes so we can all dial back into that moment when the magic was happening. Thanks to Mason’s family and his Chicago and Cleveland friends for opening up Mason’s Jar…"
