View NotesA release from the project **GEMS** yardsale tapes. -I'll leave it up to the listener to find all the patches, source changes and what not. I dont keep that good of notes. -The good stuff is MR>cass and MR>cass>cass from the yardsale benefactor. -The multi generation sources that fill in the parts the yardsale tapes didnt have were quickly and graciously transferred by the venerable Matt Smith for this release. -No patch in birdsong, small reel flip. -The encore is very rough and it was the only song with any sonic adjustments. You are forewarned. - LLer USBlues also had a hand in some patch material. And both were instrumental in the work and qc on this. Thanks Guys!! I kid you not when i say this was a a herculean project, so much that I avoided it for weeks at a time..had the tapes for a good while. So its finally done and there are still some serious inconsistencies, but its way better thans whats out there and i have a lot to do. I corrected almost every tune pitch wise. It's pretty good now but was on some songs it was 1% off and some closer to 3%, with no ryhme or reason to it aLL. Took a lot of listening. It takes about 9 hours in high resolutiuon to correct one 45 minute tape side. Lots of trial and error, so dont expect a miracle but a generally pleasant listening experience. My transfers were TascamMKII >Korg MR1000 at 1bit/5.6mHZ. View NotesCaveat: --The audience recording that supplies the first set is fairly decent through Tennessee Jed, though the quality drops to quite poor once BTW begins, and never improves for the rest of the first set. Notes: --the tape was stopped between songs on the audience master, leaving many minor cuts at the beginnings of songs during the first set. --minor tape stoppage at 5:50 in Bird Song --Bertha is provided by the audience recording --aud patch in O1 from 12:23 to 13:57; (from 13:41 to 13:57, a higher gen aud was needed for the patch); there is still some missing material here at 13:57, as both the AUD and SBD sources had overlapping tape/reel flips. --the first few seconds of Cold Rain are clipped --aud patch provides the end of Sugar Magnolia --the encore, OMSN, is provided by the audience recording (first few notes are clipped) --Sound Forge was used for normalization, minor pitch corrections, and other edits

View Notes- Caveat Emptor: Except for the first four songs, this audience recording is not really good. - Order rearranged to make the show fit onto 3 CDs. To restore the correct order, move D2T10-14 after D3T04. - Taper stopped tape at 5:50 in Bird Song thinking the song is finished - missing Cold Rain & Snow - I Know You Rider cuts - Truckin' cuts - right channel was very weak for the first minute of Deal; left channel mixed in - short cut in Sugar Magnolia - tape flip during Drums; the two cassette sides' overlap was cross-faded - tape speed corrected by about 3 % - levels adjusted - tape noise reduced - lots of little artefacts smoothed & removed; doubtlessly some still remain If you are ready to dig bad audience tapes, this one's for you. In the same league as some of the Europe 72 aud-tapes this show hits bottom end of classification. nevertheless.... The show starts with a pretty decent way the micro points to the speakers... but after 15 min our beloved taper has either gotten a tired arm, or the xxxxx are finally kicking in. Anyhow, the quality declines from here on and never recovers to the quality of tracks 1-4. It gets utterly painful during Loser, where there is more of a conversation than music on the recording. If you will go so far as to lend this show an ear, you get rewarded by a nice PITB, a fine Gone -> Other One Jam, the ever rarely played Rockin P. and the outstanding version of Not Fade Away -> GDTRFB -> NFA [21: min]. Otherwise the show isn't that great, but still "above par" [considering all shows played]. If you are out to get any & all -> go get it .... liner notes by Uli Teute mastered by H.B. from source tapes supplied by Uli Teute; 10/02 --- I can't find disk 1 of the original aud, so i used the pitched aud version (better and later) that is part of the sbd-aud composite shnid = 20168. 9/23/2005 mfv
