View NotesPatch Info: There was some other show bleeding through the tape for first few songs, so I used the circulating etree sbd to patch Me And My Uncle through Bird Song. Other Patches: Recording by Olaf Schiappacasse (using Gene Taback's equipment): Sony Stereo Mic -> Cassette Master (Sony TC-124) supplies: Bertha (complete track) Cumberland Blues (0:00 - 1:34) The Other One (5:59 - 8:14) Uncle John's Band (complete track) Notes: -- All disc changes are seamless -- The levels are a mess causing hiss in places, I did my best.. -- Sound quality improves for the 2nd Set -- Patches are not perfect, but are better -- Thanks to David Minches for the AUD patch source

Taper Notes:
View Notes: Tracked for 80-minute CD : A 20-second garbled fragment of Bertha was in the right channel at the beginning of disc 1 of my source discs; I decided not to include it in the seed. : Cumberland cuts in - a good chunk missing, still 4 1/2 minutes worth included here : Levels change in places (for instance, during Black Throated Wind, around "I can't deny...", or at "...right outside the fence..." in Jack Straw), and songs 8-11 seem a bit muddier than 1-7. : I ran 2 or 3 passes of noise reduction in Cool Edit 2000 on these wav's to clean them up. They were a hiss-farm previously. : Phil is large in the mix, to the point of peaking at times (some prior gen). : In a nutshell, there are more consistent, complete SBDs of other shows out there. That taken into consideration, it's still a fun listen. :)

Taper Notes:
View NotesThe sound of the recording varies from section to section. Fortunately the best sounding parts include the longer jams. Many of the sounds are missing the first couple of notes due to the fact that Olaf paused in between most songs. There are many other warts - too many to document. I decided to using some post-transfer processing since the recording's level were very low and there was a pretty good amount of tape noise/hiss. As you'll hear, I still left a good bit on the finished product. Be patient with the recording since the sound improves quite a bit as the show progresses. Thanks, Gene, for providing me with your cassettes.
