Show Notes: Not much to say on this one. SO I'll include the Rasta Review. Von Sauce opened with a hard rock pop set. Here's Rasta! Tonight was all about the classics. They dusted off some songs that they haven't played in quite a while. Some were a little rough, but that's to be expected to a certain degree. One of the side effects of having such a deep catalog of music to choose from is that some really solid songs end up falling out of the regular rotation and when they come back they usually aren't as tight as we remember. Tonight that wasn't so prevalent, but it was there. Fairy Tale set a dark tone to get things started, and that theme kept going for the first part of the first set. Head Inside and Schizophrenic were both a bit off but not too bad. By the time they got into Waft they had hit their stride and all cylinders were firing in sync. It really felt like they were listening together and feeding off of each other during this jam, playing as one entity at times. Definitely the highlight of the first set for me. Pace was pretty solid, and it was great to hear Spinning Around again. I remember the first time they did Found A Job and Scott joking that it would be the last as well, but they really put a lot of work into it for the SMS show and it sounded great tonight. The second set got started with a tuning jam that turned into a pretty extensive tease of The Cardigans' song Lovefool. Then Royce laid down a snare rhythm and out came Baby Hold On which seems like it's been on the shelf forever but really played well tonight. Fall In Line featured some sweet sax work by Kevin. Next up came another rarity in Come Home. I really like this Timmy song and hope it gets a foothold in the rotation soon. Mel and Kari Marie came up to add some vocal harmonies in Naïve Melody and Life During Wartime. Lonely Girl had a nice bass solo in it, but nothing like the Jimmy Happy Jam from a while back. My second set highlight was the closer ~V the most raging version of 50 Ways that I've ever seen. Not just funky, but rocking with Jason tearing it up and Timmy jumping out of his seat. Man, I tell you that's got to be my favorite one and I'm really stoked to hear the tapes. I wasn't really expecting an encore, or a quick Ween encore if we were going to get one, but I was way off. Kevin slid his mic stand up and they kicked into a hot I Wish with Kevin singing lead and sounding like he was born to do it. This turned into a pretty wild funk jam that segued on into The Squirms. It wasn't all that long, but it built a few layers and came to a peak that, as always, sent everyone home with a smile. -Rasta
