View Notes+++ 16 bit / 44.1 kHz +++ field source 1: akg c422 (blumlein) > s42 > eaa psp-2 > sound devices 722 @ 24/48 * field source 2: sbd > xlr > Oade acm hd-P2 @ 24/48 * transfer: CF > USB 2.0 (via card reader) > dsp** > FLAC the band: eric mcFadden (guitar, voice) james whiton (double bass) jeff cohen (drums) with Norwood Fisher (bass) *** more information: http://www.emtmusic.com/ notes: * i used two sources to record the performance... the mic was mounted on an enhanced audio m600 shockmount, dfc, roughly six feet from the floor using an air-cushioned calumet light stand; this placed the microphone about three and a half feet above the floor of the stage. the mic was connected to the s42 controller box (which sets the capsule patterns) via the akg 12 pin cable (15m); the s42 was connected to the eaa psp-2 preamplifier, which provided both gain and phantom power to the mic (mic pad was set to -10db). the psp-2 was connected to the 722 via segue dogstar RCA interconnects; the stereo signal was recorded to the harddrive in the 722 at 24/48. the sbd mono feed was sent to the acmP2 via a zaolla 2m XLR interconnect; the p2 was powered by 8x AA energizer rechargeables (2500 mAh). after the performance, i removed the CF card from the P2, placed it in the 722, and copied the recorded WAV files (the c422 source); the md5 signatures of these files (the originals on the 722 harddrive and the ones copied to the CF card) were later confirmed to match. ** digital signal processing consisted of mono > stereo (sbd source); mixing the aud and sbd sources, tracking, normalizing, 48 > 44.1 resampling (ultra high 2) and 24 > 16 dithering (pow-r3); all processing was performed using samplitude v8.1. WAV files stripped, fixed, and verified with shntool; encoded via flac frontend. many thanks to keith yansurak for making sure that i got the soundboard patch. also, i would like to say a huge "thank you" to both justin hoogerwerf and mikey jones. justin let me use his 722, and helped work the two rigs during the performance; mikey supplied the psp-2 and rca interconnects. ++ recorded, transfered and uploaded to the LlaMA by macdaddy (august 19, 2007)
