Notes: Apologies in advance for the long notes on this recording, but they are absolutely necessary. A lot happened between The Wetlands show from 1/8/00 and this show. I think, for those of you who follow the band and these recordings, will understand. First off, there was a show at New Cheers in Bingamton before this show, that I thought I recorded, but is lost. I may find it someday, or it may be gone forever. Who knows? I remember I played congas on Whatchya Doin' (horribly...so maybe it's good thing it's gone.) Pete Bencini broke his leg shortly after that Binghamton show, while skiing. JoAnn Pallotta (then girlfriend who sold CB merch) stayed home with him while he recovered from this. Chris Kennedy (for whatever reasons)....did not come south for this tour. This resulted in a very different Conehead Buddha. Here was the lineup: Chris Fisher: Drum kit and vocals (not up front with guitar, as normal) Christian DeFranqueville - bass/vocals Brian Kaplan - lead guitar Shannon Lynch - Sax/vocals Terrence Lynch - Trumpet/vocals This became known as "The Final Southern Tour" of the original run of Conhead Buddha. The situation for recording was unique also for this tour. I didn't attend. I couldn't get the time off from work, and didn't have the cash to make it happen. Brian Kaplan was my roommate at the time. My original minidisc player that I had been using to record shows, had beer spilled all over it, and died. I bought a brand new one. I sent the MD player, some cables and a mic and stand of some sort down south with Brian. Mary Gitto [now Boehlke] and Colleen Smith [now Califano] helped. I forget who was mixing sound at this time, maybe a guy named Misha? Jason Harris, and the Charleston crew helped with recording, when they attended (as always.) The results are these recordings. This is years belated, but THANK YOU for documenting this material. It's pretty historic, in my mind anyway. All recordings for this tour will be credited to: "Conehead Buddha Crew" - because many hands played a part in bringing the material to you. Enjoy the tour!
