[crowd roars appreciatively]... You're all screaming, but you were all like 7 when we were up here then..." -- Jeff before 'Children Are Crying' "I think that's ol' Mark Vann that's drivin'..." -- Ben in 'Train Bound For Gloryland' "So for the most part we've finished a new album and we're pretty excited about it. I'm not sure what you're gonna think but then you've never heard it before and I've heard it like a thousand times and I still like it." -- Ben before 'Dreams' MY FAVORITE MOMENT AMONG MANY MOMENTS: "Please Don't Leave Me Standing At The Depot": Jeff seemed to come across a mando lick that he liked (beginning of d1t11), tried to vary it, came back to the original, and suddenly Darol picked up on it, as did the crowd. Pretty soon they were all playing around it and Jeff started singing something that sounds at first like "Please don't leave me standing in the darkness," which is then followed by an impromptu 3-verse lyric-story (not a scat) that resolves into Jeff singing "Please Don't Leave Me Standing At The Depot" (is it a reference back to Train Bound For Gloryland that preceded Ewie?) before Darol brings back the Ewie theme. After it's over you can hear Jeff say off-mic, "I don't know what that was, but that's an idea!" followed by a couple more recurrences of the lick. Is this a wonderful anomaly, the development of an interesting variation, or maybe even a new song (ala King Ebenezer)? Only time and the presence of Darol Anger will tell.
