Neumann TLM-170(hypercardoids, Front of Board, about 25 feet from stage, center)->Sound Devices 722(@24/96); FLAC File processing in SoundForge 11 (volume normalization; scrubbing claps, whistles, and yells; resample to 44.1 with iZotope 64-Bit SRC set higher than "Highest Quality" setting w/anti-alias filter; 24->16 bit dither using iZotope MBIT+ Dither with Ultra noise shaping, High dither settings); Tracked in CDWav. IDv3 tagged in Tag&Rename 3.9.14
Taper Notes:
View Notes+ = aborted due to onstage problems with the bass * = w/"Never Go Back To Georgia" tease at 4:11 # = Whole Lotta Love (Led Zeppelin) short jam - = with Isaac Teel on percussion Taper notes: Due to the nature of the venue volume decibel restrictions and the boisterous NYC crowd, the general chatter, whoops, "woos", whistles, etc. are much more prominent than one might expect. Also, a torrential rain storm in the 2nd set is definitely audible (from the raindrops hitting my umbrella), and to make things worse, I had to lower the height of my stand significantly once the rain started after being requested to do so by Jefferson Waful, the band's lighting designer, as my umbrella was obstructing his view of the stage. This makes the audience noise even worse during the 2nd set. All that said, I spent at least 10 hours working on this recording -- removing claps, whistles, and doing my best to scrub out (or at least minimize) HUNDREDS of that LOUD audience noise so as it's less offensive to your (and my) ears! I hope that you appreciate the effort involved. Also note that there were some serious problems with the bass rig on stage during the first set. This resulted in the band actually leaving the stage TWICE, in the middle of songs so that the problems could be worked out -- between tracks 3 & 4 and 5 & 6. I have trimmed out the "dead air" when the band was offstage during these segments. You can REALLY hear the very heavy rain hit during North Route as the crowd responds.
