View NotesComments: I couldn't pass up an opportunity to see UMBowl in person. The venue was an hour and a half away, and Umphrey's proceeded to rock with four hours of music. This was a very enjoyable and unique experience. I think the highlight for me was actually the first set. "Onward and Upward" rocks, and I hope it's something Umphrey's will revisit in the future. As far as the recording goes, I think the sound quality is very good. I did have some technical problems for the first time in 60+ concert recordings. I only have stealth gear, and while it's not necessary to stealth an Umphrey's show (unless they play Northampton), my gear is what I've got. I had some issues with the left channel, mostly during the first set. I don't really know what caused the problem, but it affected the first four songs. As such, I spent an entire day trying to recover what I can, and wound up mixing the right channel into the left and adding some simulated stereo effects using Wavelab so it wouldn't sound so flat. It sucks that this happened on this once in a lifetime show, but the end result came out very nice so it could have been a lot worse. I also had to do this with the first minute and a half of the second set, and again on tracks 3, 4 & 7 of set 3. There are also some small spots here and there during set 3, where there is some small issues in the left channel that I left alone as they sounded better than my patch would have. Set 4 was completely was unaffected, so I'm a bit puzzled and will be testing my rig out thoroughly before my next show.
