Voodoo Child (14:31) Notes about the transfer: As will probably be the case with most audience recordings of the first set, the taper (whom I assume was Marc) rode the faders during the crowd noise to allow a louder signal during the songs. This makes the set more listenable--you don't have to crank the songs and then turn down the crowd suddenly. However, it certainly is an audible level change. I was able to make a smoother adjustment on 2/15/99. I lowered the cheering sections quite a bit, and I bet many of you didn't even notice. Well, I couldn't exactly work magic on this set because the "damage" had been done. It's not a big deal, but I just didn't want anyone to think that you were hearing my attempt at smoothing out the levels. The first two songs of the second disc were recorded at a noticably lower level than the rest of the second set. I assume there was a level adjustment made after those songs. I compensated by boosting them a little to smooth out the level of the second set. I felt this was still "compliant" since I was only readjusting for an adjustment, not altering the sonic experience from what would have been heard in the room. Oh yeah, and I did normalize each disc independently. I prefer to have optimized levels per disc, rather than per set. Hope no one is too put out by this. The two set 2 discs were normalized almost exactly the same amount anyway. Enjoy! --Mike
