View NotesGREAT energy from the band this night, IMO - excellent show! Though slightly short due to the format. An earlier show by other bands necessitated a late show (scheduled 11:00p start for Isis, 12:30a start for Tortoise). Not surprisingly, everything ran about 30min later than scheduled. As a result, no encore. Took a chance running subcards at the Metro on a Sat night, and it paid off - attentive crowd, not much yap-yappity-yapping going on. And the Metro always sounds great setting up mics at the board. After all, it's only 25' back and dead center. In addition, Tortoise puts their drum kits front and center, which really drives the rhythm into the audience and creates a nice sense of space and impact. All in all, very pleasing recording, I think. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
