View NotesWell there is alot to say about this show. This was our first night playing as The Soup without our longtime friend Jack Pieroth. This time we are trying out our new bassist Patrick Dinnen. He came from The Band known as "Bill Smith", who recently disbanded. He brought a different sound to the group that we are going to try to work with. Since Patrick only practiced with us for a total of 2 seperate 2 hour long rehearsals, and we played 3 1/2 hours of music, that means a bunch of stuff was played on the spot. A bunch of pre-constructed improvs, and cover tunes we could all wing. First time for playing "Be Thankful For What You Got" and first electric Performance of "Debra". First time "Jingo" was played as The Soup. First semi-succesful attempt at our new tune" Any Other Offer". The track called "Where The Fuck Is Bill Smith?" is a play on Bill Smiths main slogan, "Who The Fuck Is Bill Smith?" The form for This pre-constructed improv was once used at Wagonfest the previous Fall, but due to technical difficulties it was never recorded. The name came from the fact that Bill Smith was supposed to play and had to pull out at las tminute. And since Patrick was with us and I always wanted this form recorded I figured why not try it out here? The Following Track, "I don't Know Karate, I know Crazy", was not part of the form of "Where The Fuck Is Bill Smith?". Instead Joe took the form into his own hands and started a whole new groove and it turned out great. What the hell is Dave Saying? Arcade Queen had a soul train style dance contest (like our recent House Cafe Show). Debra was ridiculous in a good way. 18 minutes? What were we thinking? This tune took the time for us to all have silly full band solo sections. over the top? I don't know because people loved it, it was a great night.
