View NotesThis show represented a difficult engineering challenge. Had to mix the SBD down to mono and mic positioning was extremely sub-optimal in relation to the leftmost stack. Makes for rough listening at times to my ears, may take another stab at mastering it some day. 

Peter Hughes was out recovering from covid and Isa Burke had prior commitments, so this show was a surprise appearance from the Mountain Goats as John Darnielle, Matt Douglas, and Jon Wurster. The only time they have ever played in this configuration to my knowledge, and likely the only time that they ever will again. It was a delight to capture such a unique show, especially given how much fun everyone seemed to be having despite the potentially frustrating circumstances. (EDIT: Peter has since announced his departure from the band. So. Fuck.)

Matt Douglas played the actual bass guitar on Palmcorder & Incandescent Ruins as well as simultaneous bass notes & regular keys on the keyboard on several songs, which utterly mystified me once I noticed it on Demonic Light. 

Their sound man Ben played bass on This Year & Tetrapod.
