Endless gratitude to the Mountain Goats, their management, and their long time touring engineer Brandon Eggleston for the work they do and for supporting live taping. Please consider supporting the band if you're not able to make it to a show: https://www.mountain-goats.com/merch (add a note thanking them for supporting live taping at checkout!) Further appreciation for The Orange Peel, which had some of the best venue staff I've ever seen. This was the band's first in-person show after an extended hiatus due to the global covid pandemic. These shows are how I met my future wife, and the focal point around which we plan our travelling year to year. Can't really say how much it meant to be back at one. The setlist seemed heavily themed around the context of the times, and they definitely hit differently as a consequence of such. Being at a fully-masked show was an interesting experience. That part of it wasn't all bad. There was a bit of a freeing element to it, ironically. Taped & shared for the historical record, and for all those who weren't able to make it. Hope people enjoy. Regarding the unreleased track, my typical perspective as of now is to not upload things for which future release status is questionable, as that is more JD's preference. However, a video had already been posted of this one, and the ultimate deciding factor was my feeling that hearing this show in its entirety will likely be of significant value to people who were not able to attend due to pandemic related concerns.
