View NotesA show from the Mountain Goats' initial North American tour promoting their 
album, The Life of the World to Come. For this tour, the usual three-piece lineup of the Mountain Goats was augmented by Perry Owen Wright on electric guitar. The Mountain Goats were touring with Final Fantasy (Owen Pallett), who also joined them onstage to play violin on Going to Bristol and Hebrews 11:14 and piano on No Children. 

On this particular evening, Peter’s bass seemed to be turned up particularly loud, and John’s voice tended to be lost in the mix much of the time. This is particularly noticeable during the first half of “Handball,” after which it seems that the vocals were turned up some. I can assure you that this is how the mix sounded in the venue, and not merely an anomaly of the recording (as a matter of fact, it seems that John’s vocals are easier to hear on the recording than they had been at the actual show).

The show was recorded in wav format utilizing the built-in microphones on the 
Zoom H2 recording unit. Normalization and track splitting were both performed in 
Sound Studio.
