View Notes- tracks 01 and 02 from Ducktaper matrix source. thanks duck for helping me fill the gaps! - on track 03, 00:00-01:06 from ducktaper source - on track 13, 05:23-05:56 from ducktaper source - all ducktaper sources used for this file set were boosted by 4dB in Goldwave to reach volume parity as much as possible without distortion. * w/Teenage Lobotomy verse ** "Waylonized" version - ducktaper source info for Tracks 01, 02 and patches noted above: another amazing night with the gourds. this was also the west coast conventicle of the cucurbs (gourds mailing list), so there were plenty of texans and other good beeple in the house. nelson brooks managed to get local 'celebrity', frank chu (he of the crazy signs... bay area natives will recognize him in an instant) to do some prophetic ramblings on stage prior to the gourds' set. unfortunately, those are not immortalized in this file set. the new material (from 'noble creatures') sounded even better than on the record, and a generous sampling of classics and covers rounded out a raucous evening at slim's. the sound at slim's can be horrible in the wrong hands, but swampy pat made me almost think i was in the great american music hall. for those of you who have never seen the gourds, this is a fine example of the sheer range of material these guys can pull out of the hat on any given night. for those who are diehard fans, this show is a fine one to crank up at home while dancing your ass off in front of the kids (or the neighbors who might be looking in your window). long live the gourds and may they continue to grace san francisco at least once a year. we got two appearances in 2007 and feel particularly blessed.
