View Notes* with "Amazing Grace" verse to open - some unfortunate occasional wind noise across the mic (and wind on the stage mics through the PA) and occasional crowd 'rumble' underneath. - surprisingly nice recording for outdoors with the wind blowing and not being as close as i usually like to get. kudos to the soundperson with the festival for that. - jimmy's mic is out for the first part of "my name is jorge" ------------------------------------ Thoughts ------------------------------------ this was a great day in the park. and, upon reflection, a really great set of gourds music. weather wasn't super, but typical for golden gate park in october. i brought a friend and our boys ran around and had a great time during the show. HSB is always fun, but more so when the gourds are playing. great 'hellhounds' and 'jorge' opening double punch. then an easy glide into a beautiful 'web'. 'omaha' and 'shamrock bound' are just perfect. this was 'blood of the ram' time, so that album is well-represented. performances throughout are inspired and in some places, revelatory (check the set-closing 'hallelujah shine'. and the 'ceiling's leaking' before it, for that matter). and finally, the rare appearance of 'weaponized virus musket' as the encore is an incredible bonus.
