View Notes------------------------------------ Notes ------------------------------------ - i may have had to do a disc change between tracks 06 and 07; sounds like a minor blip when listening back. per lineage above, i extracted this from a disc i burned a long time ago. i can no longer source the original minidisc(s), but do know the CD was burned from .wav files after the original encoding. however, since i didn't do very good track splitting the first time, i wanted to take another crack at it before releasing this into the wild. ------------------------------------ Thoughts ------------------------------------ well, hell. the gourds in austin during SXSW. kind of hard to beat that, you know? writing these notes almost nine years after the fact, it's hard to access specific memories of the evening other than the damnations, tx opened the show and jimmy (maybe claude too?) joined them for the last number. keith had been the damnations drummer but had moved behind the gourds kit at this point. charlie gets a shout-out right before 'fold your wings', so maybe he was onstage doing some percussing too? damned if i know. if you've never been to stubb's, it's a wild and wooly place to see a show. the crowd was filled with gourds fans (obviously) and in full party mode. the band didn't disappoint. the set list was heavy on the 'bolsa de agua' and 'ghosts of hallelujah' tunes along with some other nuggets. plus what's clearly now a rare "fold your wings." all in all, a great night. and fun to revisit—aurally, at least—thanks to my willingness to stand stock still in the same place while those all around me boogied their asses off.
