A very interesting show that, at the time, seemed disastrous; in hindsight, was rather fun, tight and energetic, despite resistance from audience and circumstances. It was a last-minute booking, invited by a local talent scout. Because Ben was out of town and both Sara and David were unavailable, we were forced to play as a three-piece, with Mason moving to bass. The decision was made that Mason would play the bass through his usual effects rack and Jesse would play his guitar (mostly clean) for an interesting (but not uncommon) effect and would simulate the sonic layers we were accustomed to playing. We were unfortunately sandwiched between a teenage soft-rock female singer and her band and middle-age party-rock bar band, both bringing audiences that completely ignored us. Even worse, the talent scout was appalled at our band, especially the effected bass--he had apparently never heard of a fuzz bass before! After the performance, Mason had quit the band in frustration, only to rejoin a day later. Even through all this, it was a great performance and a great-sounding audience recording from the Zoom H2, setting right by the soundboard. Historic as it was the only time The Curiously Strong Peppermints were stripped down to a three piece, and this was the final performance with our fourth drummer Bradley. Jesse Miller - lead vocals, guitar Mason Butler - bass, backing vocals Bradley Hunt - drums
