View NotesNote on Stu Allen and Mars Hotel from the Ashkenaz Community Center, Berkeley CA, 2018-02-09, show # 268, playing music from Dec 7th 1968 Knight's Hall Bellerman College, Louisville KY. Recording gear used: 2 X Sound Devces 744T 4-channel hard disc recorders @ 24/6 resolution. Sources: Crown SASS P Mk 2 stereo condenser PZM @ the center stage lip. Add'l channels: bass, both guitars and one summed key channel. This show was played right after the passing of John Barlow, longtime lyricist for the Grateful Dead, primarily writing songs that were performed by Bob Weir. Sets 1 & 2 were as originally played, the show being shortened by technical difficulties. The 3rd set was in honor of Barlow and was taken from his body of writing for the Dead, not a particular show. The Band: Stu Allen: guitar, vocals. Steve Sofranko: keys & glockenspiel. John Hanrahan: drums, percussion. Burt Lewis: bass. Matt Cohen: guitar, vocals.
