I think I was having some equipment problems at the show which caused the issue. Moonalice played first, then John Popper/Chan Kinchla, then Spin Doctors, and finally Dark Star Orchestra. I recorded the first 3 acts but took off before Dark Star Orchestra as it was already quite a bit after midnight on a weeknight. I scrubbed some nearby loud claps by hand from T10(1 claps) Recorded, transferred (10/2011), mastered, and tracked (5/7-21/2012) by Scott Bernstein Taper Notes: BARN137 finishes off my run of recordings from this Irving Plaza Bill Graham Foundation benefit. This is an hour-long set of music from the original, reuinted lineup of the Spin Doctors. This is a very strong performance, with the band sneaking in a couple of new originals from their 2005 album "Nice Talking To Me" (the title song, plus the Eric Schenkman-sung "Genuine" which is quite reminiscient of "Off My Line"), some killer sit-ins from Erik Lawrence (future member of Levon Helm and Steven Bernstein's bands, son of Arnie Lawrence who was the Spin Doctors' and Blues Traveler guys' music teacher at the New School), John Popper(!), and in honor of Bill Graham and the Grateful Dead, the band turns in their first ever (only?) performance of The Grateful Dead's "Ripple" that turns into a crowd sing along. The last 2 songs featuring John Popper on harmonica are totally on fire! That's all I taped from this night -- one of the last few DAT recordings I ever made (it would only be a few weeks later I'd finally make the plunge into hard disc & 24 bit-based recording). I can't recall why the first 35 seconds of the set are missing from my recording, but I can only guess it was due to equipment problems with my aging gear. These probably contributed to my decision to modernize! Thanks to Yossi for being there and recording and posting his recording too!!! Enjoy!
