View NotesOriginal Notes from SmashingBootlist upload: I’m mostly very pleased with the way this show turned out.  The only flaw is in the recording itself.  I have no idea why my mini disc recorder does this, but every now and then there will be a drop-out in sound.  Luckily, the problem isn’t TOO bad, and I don’t think takes away that much from enjoyment of the show.  The show was taped at the front of the stage on stage right.  There was a volume “flub” in “A Song for a Son” that was a result of me making sure my levels were correct.  It’s mostly been corrected in the final master, but is still somewhat noticeable. Mix notes: A few days after posting the torrent of my recording, I was contacted by “potatoechip” regarding his recording of the show. We agreed to meet up for him to give me a disc of the show, raw and unedited, for me to mix with my source. My expectations were honestly low, but when I got it home I was very surprised. My recorded seemed to capture more of the “mid-to-low” frequencies, whereas his recording seemed to capture more of the “mid-to-high” frequencies. Putting them together ended up sounding fantastic, and it was like reliving the show all over again. The only real obsticle when mixing this was my previous note about the “drop-outs” in my recording. I’m unsure what caused them, but each drop-out caused the recording to be delayed by a fraction of a second. Using “potatoechip’s” recording as a guide, I went through each drop-out and manually corrected the time position. The only drop-outs that now exist are the “low-frequency” ones from my recording. I mixed this over a period of a few days, taking test copies around to listen to in the car, at work, etc. before coming up with this final mix. I hope you enjoy the results. Thanks goes to “potatoechip” for his excellent recording, and for getting it to me for mixing. ADDITIONAL EDIT: fixed bad header on t19 with Audacity, dithered to 16/44.1 with r8brain, renamed to etree standards, re-encoded to flac level 8 and sbes fixed in TLH
