View NotesIn response to every RAQfan’s undying request for full-set RAQbombs, the band is happy to announce the release of Set II from this year’s Mexicali Blues performance in Teaneck, New Jersey (1.25.08). RAQ’s two-night stand drew long-time fans to experience a new venue, good beer and great times — Not to mention the band would “wow” their audience in what was only their second show of 2008. As it’s increasingly difficult to cull highlights from this run, it is known that Set II had it all: A ripping and long-running version of RAQ’s staple “Walking In Circles” would open the show eventually leading to the not-so oft-played “One-Eyed Jack.” The set culminates with a mind-blowing segue featuring “Reason->Hitchhiker->Quick & Painless.” Some moments to make note of are bassist, Jay Burwick’s, ever pronounced bass riffing during the 4:00 mark of “Walking In Circles” and carrying through to “City Funk.” The opening section of “The Ventriloquist” begins with guitarist, Chris Michetti’s, crowd inspired loop — A theme that would re-emerge throughout the remainder of the set. As “The Ventriloquist” wraps up we are treated to an atypical start to one of RAQ’s signature tunes and what will begin the meat of this release. The ensuing “Quick & Painless->Hitchhiker->Reason->Hitchhiker-> Quick & Painless” is a journey through some of RAQ’s best jam vehicles. The return segments of “Hitchhiker” and “Quick & Painless” show us just why RAQ is simply one of the best bands in the jam rock scene today.
