SBD + onstage mic Matrix
Lineage:
Neumann TLM-170 (omni, split at the corners of the stage) + SBD -> Sound Devices 722 (@ 24/96). FLAC File processing in SoundForge Audio Studio 9.0c (Peak Level Normalize to 0db then resample to 44.1 with interpolation accuracy 4, anti-alias filter then 24->16 bit highpass triangular dither with high pass contour noise shaping); Tracked in cdwav
Taper Notes:
View Notes**** This is the 16 bit version that you should use for CD burning **** **** If you are looking for the 24 bit version of this show, you can **** **** find it here: http://www.archive.org/details/rads2008-09-23.tlm170.onstage.matrix.flac24 **** Note: Disk 1, track 0 is the intro/tuning segment. The first set fits nicely on 1 disc if you eliminate this track. But if you want to be a completist, you can burn track 0 as the 1st track on the 1st disc and then carry Doctor Doctor onto disc 2....The same thing goes for disc 2 tracks 1, 15, & 20 -- if you leave them out you should be able to burn the 2nd set as 1 disc. Set 2 had some problems -- the recording on SD722 contained just the soundboard feed. The Radio Johnson recording just had 1 onstage mic track recorded. So, I mixed them together in SoundForge 9.0. Unfortunately the onstage mic track had 7-8 dropouts eac of 1-3 seconds in it (and was missing "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere" which is presented here as just the SBD recording). The Radio Johnson recording also did not sync up time-wise with the SBD feed, so I painstakingly synched them up by adding .01 second fills to the onstage mic track when they got out of sync (approx. 1 per minute) and then mixed the tracks together (reducing the SBD volume by -0.3 db). I hope you all appreicate the HOURS AND HOURS I spent on this! :-) I think it sounds great!
