View NotesPhil Lesh & Friends 2005-12-03 Shea's Performing Arts Center Buffalo, NY -------------------------------------------------------- This presentation is based on Sanjay's MBHO Loge Source (pf2005-12-03.mbho603.torrent). We feel that source is notable for capturing the live experience; stable soundstage; and remarkable instrument nuance and detail. This remix targets re-establishing >live sonics< from the stealth-mode recording, using what we heard at T2,4,6,8 [8 rows under the balcony, just right of center] as reference. Key engineering decisions in any presentation are in part subjective judgement calls. We hope you like this tape - and also every other version of this wonderful, magical show. LINEAGE Quoting from Sanjay's description: Recorded from the very front of the balcony in the center, hope you all like it. Notes: * with "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" tease ** At approximately the 14:00 minute mark of d2t02 venue security tries shutting us down for running FOB, outside of the OTS. The Jam out of Shakedown and all of Althea is merely background music to the verbal altercation which ensues, during which I un-clamped my mics from the stand and discreetly hand held them while security ordered the taper in the seat next to me to dismantle his equipment. Two out of our four recordists were forced to tear down at that time, but the other taper and I were able to hand hold our mics, chest high, for the remainder of the second set. Unfortunately, he had to stop his recorder at one point, so my recording is the only one without any cuts available from our location. As of February 20, 2006 this is the only Orchestra FOB recording in circulation.
