You're lucky that you get to listen to this recording in whatever climate controlled environment you want, but picture those of us in attendance inside of a HOT, SWEATY club while you're listening. :-) Papa Grows Funk put on a tight, funky opening set for George Porter Jr. And The Runnin' Pardners. They were having lots of fun teasing the Runnin' Pardners theme song all night ("Lookin' For A Runnin' Pardner"). Well, right in the middle of an already super-funky Right Place, Wrong Time, I see George Porter walk right by me (I shook his hand of course) and head right for the stage, taking the bass from Mark Pero and finishing a nice jammed-out Right Place, Wrong Time with the band. Well, of course, PGF starts to tease "Lookin' For A Runnin' Pardner" again, but this time George takes their challenge, picks up the song, and sings the heck out of it -- all smiles ear-to-ear! NICE! If only all opening acts were this good....
