The Mike Mosely Show. Mike Mosny (who the Pods kept calling Mike Mosely :)) was my wingman back in the day. Mike is economical with words. He hangs out late, he has a great time, he's super cool, but he just doesn't say much. (He also dips…another reason why he doesn't talk much.) Anyway, Mike hung with me for a couple Pods shows in September of '94, having a great time, but being his usual quiet self. Of course, the Pods noticed. So P.B. Finnan's rolls around in mid-October, and during a broken string pause late third set second night (10-15-94) they invite Bob Kelly to come up on stage and do a rap to kill time. Bob starts telling everyone a game we used to play in the van called Mutants of the Road, where'd you yell "I got one! I got one!" and then you’d imitate one of your friends and everyone else would shout who it was. Well Max goes "I got one! I got one!" and then says nothing. A few seconds go by and then the whole band gleefully shouts "Mike Mosely!" and the place falls apart in laughter. Cut to two weeks later during late second set of a Saturday night Bogie's show (you see where this is going), and in the middle of Abraham Unleavenhead, Max, out of the blue, calls Mike up to the stage to speak to the crowd. Mike, terrified, declines. Bad idea. Max then proceeds to start shrieking like a Nazgul. "I want Mike Mosely! Bring me Mike Mosely!" and ultimately incites the crowd to bang on the walls, stomp their feet, and chant along with him. "Bring me! Mike Mose-ly! Bring me! Mike Mose-ly! At this point Mike actually did speak…to me and one other guy, our friend D'Accurzio. D'Accurz looked at Mike and said, "They're calling for you, Mike!" And poor glazed-eyed, shell-shocked Mike - who had never yet seen exactly how twisted, devolved, and demented Pods shows can get (let alone late on a Saturday night at Bogie's) – Mike looks back and says, "Yeah, and it sounds like they mean business." Mike only spoke on one other occasion at a Pods show. When someone told him a certain song title, he asked (incredulously) in response "Quarter pound hotdog??" The Rutland Reject (Bob Kelly's evil twin) also returned to play percussion the whole second set and engage in various acts of bedlam and mayhem, again mostly during Abraham. Other show highlights include Blackberry and "Mike Mosely 3" to close the first set, a slammin' Until I Break, a riotous "Seapods are not Ominous" rap that found its genesis in a phone admonishment left for Old TP on the Pods answering machine, and an encore of H.D.O. where they changed the chorus to "Hey Mike Mosely Why Don't You Talk Someday?"
