(?) --It should also be told there are two versions of the Cold Rain & Snow on the tapes...one was cut towards the very end, one was complete & said "different source"...after listening, I decided to include both hoping this would be re-mastered & corrected...the complete version is out of pitch & runs slow --This is not the DP. --I got these tapes from an old deadhead friend back in the mid - late 70's, either 77 or 78 & he had them LONG before that. --There's nothing else I can add here, this is all I know about the tapes. --(Maxell UDXL II 90 minute @ 2.5 tapes) --There was an announcer at the very end after We Bid You Goodnight talking about the National Paranoid Association: "For those of you out there hiding under couches & in dark places, we love you, we need you, please donate. We don't want to know who you are or where you are, please come out". --There was more but it was cut & I left it out, only noted here in case someone knows more about this recording. --The only editing performed was to remove some silent between song gaps where it sounded like the taper had stopped the deck & re-started it to continue recording...just a few short seconds of silence was removed in about 6 places. --The tracking could be better, the whole thing needs some better editing & mastering applied. --This is very raw C > CD > EAC > Flac. Each side of a tape was recorded to a single CDR, warts and all, then the silent gaps were removed using CD Wave Editor. No other editing was done. --If you burn to CD, this isn't tracked to fit exactly so you will have to divide it up best you can. --If you care to use 5 CD's, you're good just as the files read. (I think ?) --Many thanks to my friend Jim Collison for providing the cassettes all those years ago, thanks bub. --Please support the band & purchase the official release, Dick's Picks Vol 8. vg NOTES (2026-04-01): --Mucho Thanks to whomever originally recorded & shared out this GD/NRPS 1970 show & to Jim Collison & poordevil & anyone else involved in getting this out far & wide for all of us to enjoy. Absolutely Appreciated all around!! --these trax come from shnid=108955 which was edited to just include the New Riders Of the Purple Sage material from this night & the 2 trax that members of NRPS guested with GD during their acoustic set, etc. --the original info that came with this denoted that 'members of NRPS' also guested on "Uncle John's Band" which followed "Cold Jordan", but that has turned out to be incorrect & one can even hear Jerry after "Cold Jordan" say, "Let's hear it for..." (the guests), signifying that they left the stage after that number --also, shnid=138227 for this show tells us that "Candyman" was not aborted & did not segue into "Cumberland Blues" as was thought to be the case for so many years...that version has the complete "Candyman" & also Garcia introducing David Nelson to join for "Cumberland Blues"...as stated by Charlie Miller on the thread of his share for that version at LL: "All these years we thought that "Candyman" was aborted and went into "Cumberland." Now we know the truth!!! And we got Garcia introducing David Nelson." --this show was presented by the 'State University of New York at Binghamton Student Center Board' & was part of what was known as "Spring Weekend 1970" --the show started at 8:30pm & reports are that the entire thing lasted 5&1/2hrs!! --tickets for this show were $3.00 --I added the band members info --added more detail to the setlist info & venue info --this university began its life as a small liberal arts college named "Triple Cities College of Syracuse University" (1946-1950); then "Harpur College" (1950-1965); then "State University of New York at Binghamton" (1965-present [2026])...despite its name the school's campus & most facilities are in Vestal across the river from Binghamton...despite branding itself as Binghamton University this is not the actual name of the school...it is also known as "Binghamton University"; "SUNY Binghamton" --https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binghamton_University --https://jerrygarciasbrokendownpalaces.blogspot.com/2011/12/west-gym-harpur-college-suny-1092-bunn.html --added pics of the venue & the ticket stub & a review of the show from 3 days later
