But if one of your favourite bands only plays a much shorter set on a festival in your own country, that's what you've got to do. While Dirty Three played the small Balzaal a week earlier, Mono took the stage at the much larger Concertzaal, and almost sold it out as well. Which was a bit odd, because the next day they would be the second act in a line-up that also included Do Make Say Think and again Dirty Three. When you check the first link of the youtube vids, you'll notice a guy with curly hair that just can't stop moving his head. Well, I was standing right next to him. Just felt like standing in front tonight, and I do not regret at all. But I do wonder how this recording would have sounded had I stood further back, or on the balcony. Because it is a bit unbalanced, the drums (especially the cymbals) are a tad too loud. And from where I was standing I could hardly hear what Yoda was playing. But the good part of standing in front is that there's hardly anyone in front of you that could harm the recording by making unnecessary noise. There's some very mild mobile phone interference at the start of Pure As Snow, but other than that the recording turned out fine. Fortunately for you listeners, what's not included in this recording is the light show. Somebody should tell the light guy at the Vooruit that it's very annoying when you're not able to see a band because there's a million Watts of lights aiming directly in your eyes. I didn't even notice that Tamaki was wearing a see-through shirt! So this recording was for the largest part made with my eyes closed, and I suggest you do the same next time you catch them live. Dirk Serries's Microphonics was the support act tonight, and was also recorded. Please don't sell! Please don't share in lossy format! Please don't share without the original .txt file! If you want to remaster this, please let me know so that you can use the master recording! Support the band. Buy their albums, go see them live!
