Sacred Paw, Forest Swords, and The Vaselines were supporting (in order of appearance). Much laughter at the Limmy intro. Since I was not able to make the Saturday night show, I can easily believe from friends comments that it was just as good as this gig. The setlists for both nights were amazing and it's hard to pick a fave, though My Father, My King was a tour-de-force. Luke played on a few songs as usual, Jonny Scott was on percussion at one point, and Shona played flute on Satan. There was an impressive lighting rig at the back of the stage, complete with strobes, mirror balls, etc. Quite the show from the guys with 20 years under their belts now. Stuart made comment during his "thanks" about being at great gigs in the Barrowlands before he was even in a band and hopes the Barras would still be hosting gigs in 100 years time. Amen to that. Recording notes and sound quality: Recorded from the vicinity of the soundboard, so at the back of the venue. whilst the sound might have been better nearer the PA, I reckon I got a decent sound with very little crowd noise. There are a few plastic cups getting crushed, and a handful of comments, etc. I boosted the volume by +8db and gave it just a little bass boost, as it was a little light on the bass front. HOWEVER, from the run-out of Helicon 1, I noticed minor intermittent interference caused by the battery box jack-plug turning in the recorder (keeping still at a gig is impossible!). I reckon the 3.5mm jack is a little undersized, as I have never had this problem with any cabling before. It was too much of a distraction to leave in, and way too frequent to consider fixing, so I copied the good LH channel over to the RH channel, so in essence, this is a mono recording. Still sounds quite reasonable, so don't let that put you off. band links http://www.mogwai.co.uk/ https://www.facebook.com/mogwai https://www.musicglue.com/mogwai-1/ venue link http://www.glasgow-barrowland.com/ballroom.htm Please support the band by buying their albums, merch, and by going to see them live.
