Taper Notes:
View NotesNotes: First distributed a few days after the show amongst a small group of people in the form of a "beta" version, this is a new, more carefully remastered version of this show. By the time I attended the show, I wasn't really into the new album, which I consider, now that I've heard this tape countless times, one of Mogwai's best. Seeing Mogwai for the first time was pretty much a life changing experience for me, it changed me from a massive fan to a full blown groupie, and this recording deserved every hour I've spent on it. The sound was pretty good, no signs of incompetence by the sound man, and this isn't a particularly good hall in the acoustics department. I wasn't one of the first ones to arrive, so the best places to tape in my ticket section were already taken, and the DPA's would've appreciated me being closer to the PA. Nevertheless, this a great capture... a little too much snare at the beginning, some fluctuations in the bass volume throughout the show, but the guitars were pretty clear, and lord knows how you do such a great job behind the console with a band like Mogwai. I've spent a whole day working on this recording. I can't even begin to tell you how muddy the master sounded compared to this. One of my favorite recordigs of the Hawk tour.
