Since I anticipated a larger and more motivated crowd it meant getting out there earlier than usual to get on line. Was awake at 3:54 and out the door at 5:01 which got me on line at 5:30 since there was no traffic. That got me third on line which would work. Friends arrived and when doors open one of our friends took the blankets and was the runner. I dragged the cooler with food and drinks and chairs and my spot was waiting. There was lots of room for friends and some friends of friends. People just had to understand taping was going on. Opening band Midnight North put on a short set with guests from Phil's band sitting in for a few songs. As the music was about to start a big and tall guy who was friends with someone ended up next to me and started talking. I nicely shushed him and he gave me a dirty look. I thought to myself, really? Then he cluelessly clapping loudly right at the level of the mics and is obviously clueless. I didn't get there at 5:30 to have someone next to me ruin the recording. He then starts to talk again and someone else shushes him as I am about too. He left, the next song which was fine with me. Phil came on with his bamd and opened with Dark Star into St. Stephen. If the Grateful Dead did that 30 years ago I would have lost my mind. This was fun but almost seemed coverbandish (don't hate me for that). The Shakedown Street and Terrapin Station were really good. I also really enjoyed the Let it Grow and Playing In The Band. As the set ran long they ended with a short version of Uncle John's Band. A fun day at the grove hanging out with friends and enjoying some Grateful Dead music. Hope those who couldn't attend enjoy this capture of the show. Just the basic taper requests here and please no vitriol: Don't be an ass by selling this or using it in a video that is sold Don't modify the info file Don't remaster and/or post on other sites that are not 100% free If shared keep info file intact but create a second file Don't convert to lossy formats except for personal use Do support the artists vanillag NOTES (8/23/2022): --Thanks so much to the great Daspyknows for recording & sharing this Midnight North show!! It sounds fantastic & is well appreciated!! --This event was named "The Big Picnic - A Free Concert & Benefit For Stern Grove Festival" --lineup at this event was: DJ Walkin' Love; DJ AREWENOTDEAD; Midnight North; Phil Lesh & Friends (DJs probably spun before & between the bands, etc.) --I added the band members info --created an ffp checksum file --added the ffp fingerprints to the text file --added some more detail to the setlist --added some nice pics of the venue & posters for the event --Stern Grove Festival relies on donations from people like you to cover nearly 100% of the costs of presenting admission-free concerts and education programs. Make a tax-deductible donation and support admission-free access to the arts for all! https://www.sterngrove.org/donate#donatenow
